TASNIM BAGHDADI is a painter and artist. She currently lives in Zurich and Berlin.
Her work is an exploration of the indexicality of painting and its relationship to the production of meaning. She investigates the poetics of physical relationships and produces signs as well as variations of texture through abstraction, in what she calls a semiotic practice. Through her work, Tasnim questions the unequivocal interpretation of knowledge and language and explores entangled systems of thought. The artist therefore understands her artworks as visually manifested thought figures.
The artist combines a variety of media, including drawing and painting, printmaking, and installation. Tasnim completed her M.A. in Art History at the University of Bonn and studied graphic design in Venlo as well as Curating at the University of the Arts Berlin. In addition to her artistic practice, she holds the position of Co-Director of Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Zurich.
